4th-Grade Expectations: Come to school & class prepared; follow directions the first time given; respect the rights & property of others; use time wisely & do your best work; good behavior is expected & valued. Late Work:All work assigned to a student is by definition required. The work provides practice of a skill, application of the skill, and/or assessment information for the child and teacher. It is not an option for a student to not complete and submit assigned work. Incomplete assignments or assignments not submitted by due date will result in students using their own time to complete. If a student demonstrates a pattern of not completing work as assigned, parents will be notified. Should the pattern continue, motivators such as loss of privileges or meeting to strategize with administrators will be applied. Grades:Grades are based on a combination of tests, participation, class work, homework, group work, and projects. Any student who scores below a 70 on an assessment will be provided a re-teach and the opportunity to make corrections to bring the grade up to a 70. All grades above 70 will remain as is, until the end of the quarter when students will be given an optional extra credit assignment to replace their lowest grade with an 80. Communications:Please check my class website (you're on it right now!) daily for announcements, information, & teacher communications. Please pay attention to the emails I send you. Homework:Homework may consist of material across all subjects including unfinished class work, assigned homework, and studying for tests. No homework should require parent help; it is work the students are able to and should complete independently. Per campus policy, when homework is assigned it should not exceed a maximum of 50 minutes. Homework will not be assigned for completion on weekends. Please let us know if it is taking longer than the expected time. This is important assessment information and will advise me if accommodations are necessary. -Makeup Work / Absences: Missed work is expected to be completed. Please advise your child's teachers when you know they'll be absent. -Entering the building in the morning will happen through 2 sets of doors. Students will enter the building through the front middle doors or the gym doors only. Students will go directly to the cafeteria and sit with their class for morning assembly. Morning assembly will start at 7:40. Students arriving to school after the tardy bell will need enter through the front office doors to receive a tardy slip. -Security and the safety of your children is our top priority. All parents attending only the morning assembly will enter the building through the gym or front middle doors. Parents will not be allowed to enter the halls or walk children to class after the morning assembly. Parents that need to remain in the building (for a conference, meeting, or to volunteer) must exit the building and sign in at the front office to obtain a visitor’s badge. -Lunch: We hope to make parents to feel welcome at our school and we need your support. To help your children establish routines and new friendships we are asking that parents refrain from visiting during lunch for the first two weeks of school. You are welcome to sit with your child at their class table. You are more than welcome to bring your child a special lunch, but please do not bring food for any other children. -New Transportation Rules: As we communicated last May, Eanes ISD has eliminated guest ridership on our school buses and has eliminated stops to alternate locations for after-school programs. While we realize this may cause an inconvenience to some families, we made the decision based on bus route and fuel efficiency, management in terms of the amount of consistent riders on our routes, and equal transportation offerings for all of our families. The definition of a guest rider is a student who rides a bus other than the one they are assigned. If a student remains on his/her assigned bus but gets off at a different stop along the route, that is allowed because he/she is already accounted for on that bus.
